| ICCM Etiquette for Attendance at Formal Events 1. Please turn off all cellphones completely. 2. No food or drink is permitted in chapel or classrooms. 3. Appropriate attire is church worship clothing and proper shoes, never sportswear or slippers. 4. Small children, aged 7 and under, are encouraged to remain with their caretakers so as not to disturb others. They can enjoy recitals when they are older. If the children must be on campus, please have caretakers keep the children quietly in the college grounds, without destroying plants or flowers or throwing stones. Parents will be asked to remove noisy children from the campus if they disturb the event. 5. A respectful attitude towards the musicians or performers will be silent and attentive. You are asked not to speak to your seatmates during the recital. Even whispers are not polite. Refrain from walking about the venue except at intermission. 6. Please do not sing along with familiar songs as this distracts the performer. 7. Applause is the best way to show appreciation at the end of a piece. Some music has more than one section, such as sonatas, sonatinas, and symphonies. The audience should be silent between the movements, and applaud at the end. 8. To show disrespect to the performers by calling out or making fun of them is unkind. 9. Remember that recital students have been preparing their pieces for more than a year, so their performance is the culmination of many hours of hard work. Please show complete respect for their efforts. If something seems to go wrong, wait silently until the recital continues. 10. In all formal events, such as weddings, recitals, church services, and graduations, flash photography detracts from the solemnity of the occasion. Please refrain from any activity which undermines the importance of such events. 11. Thank you for helping us to develop a godly spirit of professionalism and proper behavior on our campus. “Let all things be done decently and in order”. I Corinthians 14:40. |
